Course Overview

This course introduces project management concepts and sets a baseline for understanding the project management for professionals are now getting into the Project Management field. It is aimed to have a project scenario-based exercises that enable delegates to gain the needed skills in developing a project plan as per PMP standards, a well facilitated training course led by the instructor provides a hands-on understanding on how to apply PMP concepts in real life projects.

Outline

  1. Introduction:
    1. Definitions & Terminologies
    2. Project Lifecycle

Case Study: The participants would be divided into groups, each group will have a task to develop its own project scenario in order to carry it throughout planning exercises

  1. Initiating:
    1. Develop Project Charter; the participants as groups would develop the project charter for their selected project based on the trainer’s instructions
    2. Identify Stakeholders; creating a stakeholder register and conduct analysis to select the right strategies
  2. Planning:
    1. Define Stakeholder Engagement Plan; elaborate on how to build up the right approach using the stakeholder engagement assessment matrix
    2. Define Requirement; creating a list of project requirements and prioritize them using MoSCoW model
    3. Create Work Break-down Structure; develop a work breakdown structure (WBS) that represent the overall planned project work
    4. Create Network Diagram; define the dependencies and relation between project activities
    5. Develop Estimate Sheet; brainstorm on the forecasted resources, duration and cost for each project activity using three-point estimate
    6. Finalize Project Schedule; reflect the estimated durations into the network diagram and conclude the project timeline using critical path method
    7. Quality Tools & Techniques; elaboration on the seven basic quality tools
    8. Create Project Organization Chart; Establish the main roles in the project
    9. Develop RACI Chart; Assign the project responsibilities
    10. Develop Communication Plan; Address the main elements in project communication
    11. Identify Risks; brainstorm project related risks and create risk register
    12. Analyze Risks; reconcile risk understanding to conduct qualitative & quantitative analysis
    13. Risks Response Planning; brainstorm on different strategies & action plans
    14. Procurement lifecycle; elaborate on the procurement steps throughout projects
  3. Executing:
    1. Understand how to manage and develop teams
    2. Familiarization on how to achieve project quality objectives
    3. Managing project issues
  4. Monitoring & Controlling:
    1. How to manage project changes
    2. How to monitor project progress
    3. Project Reporting
  5. Closing
    1. Project administrative closure steps
    2. Project Closure Report
